What would be your addition to that chalkboard?
I’m sure you’ve heard of creating a “Bucket List.” Coming from a 2007 movie with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson, the idea is to create a list of things you’d like to do before you “kick the bucket.” Another take on (basically) the same list, calls it the “Life List.”
A few decades ago, I heard legendary football coach Lou Holtz speak in Jacksonville, Florida. One of the things he spoke of that evening was the list he developed as an out-of-work coach. To move himself to a more positive mindset, Holtz wrote a list of 107 things he wanted to do before he died.
Last week, as Laurie and I walked the downtown area of Fernandina Beach, we saw a sign on the outside wall of a restaurant. A bag of chalk hung on the lower corner inviting people to write their comments for the public to see. The board’s title: “Before I Die I Want To.” Again, the same idea as those above but with a different title; and only enough room for one of the many items you probably could write.

I’m on a blog break, but your topic piqued my interest. Thanks!
Any item to share, Steve?

Good for you, Marian, for taking a break. At times we need to “just be”, right? 🙂
There are a number of things I would add. The first (and rather general, but it means something to me): I want to be remembered for what I was doing–not what I did. In other words, it’s nice/meaningful to have done good things in the past–but what am I doing now?
Enjoy your respite.
